DHL Technical Services Powered by Kalitta (DTS) is a newly formed joint venture between DHL Network Operations (USA), Inc. (DHL) and Kalitta Air LLC (Kalitta). DTS will provide line maintenance services to aircraft of DHL Network operators as they transit the Cincinnati (CVG) hub. DTS is currently still in its start-up phase with a target date of beginning revenue operations at/around April 1, 2025. At maturity, DTS will generate revenues of US$35 million and will have approximately 200 employees.
Role description
Summary:
The DTS CFO is responsible for being the strategic accounting, finance and HR business partner supporting DTS’s General Manager and Board of Directors and is a member of the senior leadership team. This role will oversee the financial health of DTS while ensuring alignment to company policies, communication of financial results to DTS management and the JV partners (DHL and Kalitta) and compliance and reporting related to HR functions. As specified in the JV agreement, the DTS CFO is an employee of DHL. This position will report directly to the CFO-Intercontinental Aviation with a dotted line to DTS’s General Manager.
Purpose:
§ Leads, develops and manages the DTS Finance organization, Controlling, Human Resources and Administration functions.
§ Supports Management decision-making processes, defines and implements strategy and contributes to the achievement of business objectives.
§ Directs and leads to ensure compliance with overall DHL Group and DTS finance and HR guidelines, legal framework and accounting standards and controls.
§ Directs and controls all financial accounting, fiscal matters and reporting for joint-venture entity that is fully consolidated into DHL Group results.
§ Develop and implement financial analyses to support pricing of services and cost control and to drive efficiency and maximize profitability.
§ Involved in contract negotiations with customers and suppliers ensuring DTS obtains most competitive pricing and best contractual terms possible.
§ Identifies, develops and implements process improvement and controls that drive efficiency and productivity; initially in start-up environment and growing into continuous improvement.
§ Compliance Coordinator for this legal entity
§ Supports Global Aviation maintenance program and cost management.
Key accountabilities
§ Strategic: Advises the business on financial implications with respect to major changes including customer pricing, costing, financial process development and employee compensation and benefits. Provides leadership in the definition and development of finance & controlling strategy, finance and HR policies and procedures within this entity, underpinning the success of the business.
§ Profit Improvement / Cost Control: Ensures business opportunities and financial procedures are effectively implemented to maximize EBIT in line with Global Aviation business plans. Promotes cost efficient operations by identifying opportunities for cost savings. Provides financial perspective in business negotiations with customers or suppliers. Performs contract management in regard to joint venture partners and key customers ensuring compliance by both DTS and its partners.
§ Reporting: Directs reporting process to ensure accurate, transparent, relevant and timely management reporting including financial (CREST), employee and operational data, Analyzes and communicates management reporting results to DTS management, Board of Directors and Global Aviation Controlling, including preparation of analyses to alert management on issues, trends and opportunities for optimal decision making.
§ Budgeting: Ensures that the management of the planning, budgeting and forecasting process complies with overall financial policies and procedures to support the achievement of strategic targets.
§ Controlling / Accounting / Compliance: Ensures financial transparency; monitors and identifies risks and opportunities. Leads the timely, accurate and complete preparation of the company’s financial statements, manages accounting processes for and ensures strong internal control environment and compliance. Coordinates Federal and local tax compliance and accounting with DHL Tax department. Ensures compliance with finance and HR policies and other requirements.
§ Billing / Collections: Ensures accuracy of billings and timely collection of amounts receivable while maintaining relationships with important DHL Network service providers.
§ Purchase to Pay (PTP): Owner of the Purchase To Pay and expense processes, establishing and monitoring standards for purchase order compliance, invoice approval, invoice booking and payment processes as per Corporate and Division Global Standards, ensuring cash flow and efficiency maximization in coordination with Group Treasury; recommend and pay dividends for the organization.
§ Business case analysis: Evaluates capital expenditure, investment and other business cases and co-ordinates the review and approval process in compliance with the DHL Group policy, coordinates budgets for all major projects, maintains efficient project monitoring tools to ensure delivery of planned results.
§ Stakeholders (Internal/External): Maintains appropriate relationships with DTS management and Board and joint venture partners, other DHL Group Finance teams (Aviation and otherwise), customers (which are also DHL Network service providers), local DHL operating departments, external auditors, DHL Group tax advisors, Treasury and Legal and government and community offices.
Requirements for the Job
§ High level of experience in leading a Finance organization – minimum of 7 years.
§ Managerial experience in a large organization. Small company and/or start up experience a plus.
§ Educational Qualifications: University degree in finance, accounting or related; CPA, CA or equivalent preferred.
§ Strategic mindset and the ability to align financial strategies with the overall business objectives.
§ Proven experience with analyzing market trends, assessing risks and providing insights to drive strategic decision-making.
§ Aviation knowledge and experience an advantage, especially in relation to an MRO.
§ Technical Competency in all Financial matters - Accounting including IFRS, Controlling and Management Reporting, financial analysis, budgeting and cost controls.
§ Proficiency in financial software and analytical tools to effectively analyze financial data, perform financial modeling, and leverage technology for financial management and reporting.
§ Technical Competency in Human Resources matters – Compensation and benefits plan design, compliance – preferred.
§ Familiarity with DHL Group Finance and HR policies and systems preferred.
§ Ability to effectively communicate complex financial information to various stakeholders at all levels of the organization and across functions.
