We are at the beginning of an exciting chapter in the development of our maintenance network and are looking for a dedicated and visionary Maintenance Station Manager (m/f/d) for our new station in Vitoria.

This position offers you the unique opportunity to play a central role in the construction and operation of a state-of-the-art aircraft hangar that will not only expand our capacity, but also raise the efficiency and quality of our aircraft maintenance services to a new level.

With the construction of the new hangar in Vitoria, we are taking a significant step towards the expansion and modernization of our aircraft maintenance infrastructure.

This position is not only crucial for the smooth operation of the station, but also for strengthening our market position in the aviation industry.

Job profile:

The role of Outstation Manager is responsible for the company's outstation strategy. The role ensures the provision of maintenance services at all stations in the DHL network outside the Leipzig hub. Responsibilities range from employee management, project management and contract management to monitoring the agreed services:

Outstation Management and Team

• Comprehensive analysis and effective management of personnel and resources for the outstation, ensuring optimal operational efficiency and alignment with organizational objectives. This includes assessing workforce needs, allocating resources effectively, and implementing strategies to enhance performance and productivity.

• Lead, motivate, and develop a team of technical engineers (certifying staff), ensuring effective performance management and professional development.

• Facilitate regular team meetings and performance reviews to foster open communication, align goals, and assess individual and team performance. This involves creating a collaborative environment where feedback is encouraged, discussing progress on key initiatives, and identifying opportunities for professional development to enhance team effectiveness and cohesion.

• Willingness to organize internal workshops and training sessions and to take part in relevant qualifications.

• Coordinate and manage the infrastructural requirements at the outstation, ensuring that all facilities and resources are effectively organized and maintained.

Operational Oversight

• Oversee the daily operations of the outstation, ensuring strict adherence to company policies and aviation regulations. This involves coordinating activities, optimizing workflows, and implementing best practices to maintain operational excellence while prioritizing safety and compliance. Additionally, responsible for monitoring performance metrics and addressing any issues to uphold the highest standards of service and efficiency.

• Ensure the processing of maintenance events in full compliance with EAT, EASA, LBA, and CAA regulations. This includes overseeing the documentation and execution of maintenance activities, conducting thorough reviews to verify adherence to regulatory standards, and implementing corrective actions as necessary to maintain safety and operational integrity.

• Oversee flight operations, logistics, and ground handling services.

• Implement strategic initiatives to enhance the delivery of maintenance services, focusing on identifying areas for improvement and introducing effective measures. This includes analyzing current processes, leveraging best practices, and fostering collaboration among teams to optimize service efficiency, reduce downtime, and ensure the highest standards of quality and safety in maintenance operations.

Safety and Compliance

• Ensuring compliance with official and Group requirements, such as occupational safety regulations

• Ensure rigorous compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements, actively monitoring operations to uphold the highest levels of safety.

• Regular review of safety standards and risk assessments of the technical work to be carried out on the aircraft.

• Actively participate in safety meetings on a regular basis to contribute to discussions on safety protocols, share insights, and promote a culture of safety within the organization. This involvement includes reviewing safety performance, identifying potential hazards, and collaborating with team members to develop and implement effective safety strategies and initiative.

• Active collaboration in compliance with the safety management system and its reporting

Customer Services

• Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction by ensuring service quality and addressing customer inquiries and concerns.

• Collaborate with other departments to enhance the customer experience.

Reporting and Analysis

• Generate regular reports detailing operational performance, safety incidents, and employee performance metrics.

• Conduct comprehensive data analysis to uncover trends and pinpoint areas for improvement.

• Collaborate with the Line Maintenance Network Manager to develop a comprehensive business risk analysis. This process involves identifying potential risks, assessing their impact on operations, and formulating mitigation strategies.

Employee profile:

• Bachelor's degree in aviation management or a related field is an advantage.

• Minimum of (10) years’ experience in aviation and aircraft maintenance and repair and at least (3) three years in a management position.

• Extensive knowledge of aviation regulations and safety standards, including relevant national and international guidelines, to ensure compliance and safety in air transportation. This encompasses an understanding of the regulations set forth by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), and various national aviation authorities.

• Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, demonstrated through the ability to inspire and motivate teams, effectively convey ideas and information, and build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders. Proficient in facilitating collaboration, resolving conflicts, and fostering a positive work environment that encourages open dialogue and teamwork.

• Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while effectively managing multiple priorities. Excels at maintaining focus and organization under pressure, demonstrating strong time management skills and adaptability. Capable of prioritizing tasks efficiently to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality results, even in dynamic and challenging situations.

• Strong analytical thinking skills combined with a proactive approach to meet the demands of the DHL network. Demonstrates the ability to assess complex situations, identify key insights, and develop data-driven solutions. Consistently takes the initiative to optimize processes and enhance operational efficiency, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and customer satisfaction.

• Demonstrates a strong commitment to goals and objectives, coupled with resilience in the face of challenges, effectively maintaining focus and perseverance under pressure.

• High willingness to work flexible hours, including readiness for shift work, weekend shifts, and additional duties during Aircraft on Ground (AOG) situations. This role may also require irregular working hours, encompassing weekends and public holidays.

• Willingness to travel to participate in training sessions, assist with maintenance work at other stations, and repair aircraft in AOG (Aircraft on Ground) situations, ensuring timely and effective resolution of operational issues.

• Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is essential for effective communication within the team and with clients. Knowledge of Spanish is an asset and will be considered an advantage.

• Strong interest in and familiarity with IT systems and very good IT skills (Microsoft Office, Trax & AIMS); AMOS is a plus.
