4. Purpose/legal basis of the data processing
a) Use by DHL Hub Leipzig GmbH
We provide you with an uncomplicated and quick way to apply for advertised job vacancies via WhatsApp. Your name, date of birth, telephone number and email address as well as the desired position may be communicated via WhatsApp, but no CVs or references. We will then contact you by telephone.
The legal basis for the data processing is Art.6 Para.1 lit. b) of the GDPR as well as § 26 of the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG), as the data collection described above takes place within the scope of applicant management for the initiation of a possible employment relationship in response to job advertisements. The request for the date of birth is necessary due to the provisions of §§ 14 et seq. of the Youth Employment Protection Act (Jugendarbeitsschutzgesetz), as the activities associated with the positions offered are to be carried out predominantly at night or within the times to be taken into account in §§ 16 et seq. of the Youth Employment Protection Act (Jugendarbeitsschutzgesetz).
Furthermore, due to the European anti-terror regulations, we are obliged to check your personal data (surname, first name, date of birth) against the so-called "EU terrorist list" in order to ensure that no funds or other economic resources are provided for terrorist purposes in the future. In addition, we use your surname, first name and date of birth to check whether you have already been employed by us in the past.
In addition to § 26 of the BDSG, the legal framework for this special processing therefore includes Art.6 Para.1 s. 1 lit. c and f of the GDPR (fulfilment of a legal obligation and protection of legitimate interests).
b) Use by applicants and processing of personal data on WhatsApp
Participation in an application via WhatsApp is absolutely voluntary. There is no obligation to use WhatsApp as an application channel. This service is merely an alternative to applying via the application form at https://careers.dhl.com/eu/en/dhl-hub-leipzig. There will be no discrimination or preferential treatment under any circumstances, regardless of which application channel is used. DHL Hub Leipzig GmbH is not liable for information from interested candidates which is published on WhatsApp.
By using this service you indicate that we may contact you in order to process your application. Communication via WhatsApp is protected by end-to-end encryption. However, WhatsApp has access to the metadata of the communication (sender, recipient, time, size etc.). There is also a possibility that WhatsApp will collect, process or use your data for its own or third-party purposes.
Please note that we have no influence on the processing of personal data by WhatsApp and that we do not have any information on the extent, purpose and period for which WhatsApp stores the data and, if applicable, evaluates, links and transmits it to third parties. Please note that your data may also be processed outside the European Union/European Economic Area. This may result in data protection risks for users, in that an adequate level of data protection may not be guaranteed and the enforcement of the rights of data subjects may be more difficult. Please refer to WhatsApp's privacy policy. If you contact us via WhatsApp, you accept the terms of use and data protection of the provider WhatsApp, which can be accessed here: https://www.whatsapp.com/legal/privacy-policy-eea?eea=1&lang=de.5.
