Operations manager
DHL, an award-winning leading supply chain business, is seeking a Transportation Operations Manager to play a vital role managing the execution, direction and co-ordination of all transport matters. This includes but is not limited to managing budgets and holiday allocation, ensuring the fleet is roadworthy and meets legal requirements and ensuring drivers are aware of and work to their assigned duties. This role requires a keen focus on upholding site and DHL compliance standards, ensuring that all operational processes align with company policies.

WHAT DOES THE ROLE ENTAIL?
- Actively work as part of the site management team to achieve Green performance as a minimum; assist the Transport Manager in areas of customer service and general oversight of the operation
- Deputise for the Transport Manager in their absence. Attending morning meetings and acting as a point of contact with the customer
- Managing the service planner to ensure all vehicles are presented for service in their allocated week
- Dealing with defective equipment and gaining authorisation where needed for repairs to be carried out promptly, so as not to affect the depot trailer availability
- Managing Absence – Follow the company systems that are in place to track and manage absence from work of your team.
- Disciplinary / Grievance – Manage the disciplinary process to ensure company procedure is followed and paid suspension, where used, is minimized.
WHAT DO WE NEED FROM YOU?
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in transport operations, with a proven track record of success
- At least 2 years of experience in a similar role, demonstrating expertise and leadership
- Transport operations qualification (CPC or equivalent) is essential
- Exceptional people management skills, with the ability to lead and inspire teams
- Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, delivering results under challenging conditions
