DIVERSITY

Gender Diversity

Our diversity policies and practices are designed to tackle gender stereotypes, encouraging, enabling and empowering women to excel in roles once dominated by men. Today, more than one in five middle and upper management positions is held by a woman. And the number is growing all the time.

Across the Group, there are numerous programs to support and inspire female colleagues, ranging from networking events, career programs to talent pools. Not forgetting our 'Women at DHL Global Forwarding' initiative, which won a gold award at the internationally renowned Stevie Awards for Women in Business.

Cultural Diversity

Our people come from all four corners of the world. Across the Group, we employ people from a wide range of cultural backgrounds – with 175 nations represented at our German sites alone.

That cultural diversity is perhaps most evident each year during our Global Diversity & Inclusion Week, when thousands of participants in every area of the business take time out to celebrate and share their culture with colleagues through our internal social channel.

Colleagues with disabilities

Around the world, our commitment to inclusivity involves creating great career opportunities for people with disabilities too. In Germany, the percentage of our workforce with some form of disability is 9.1%. Which equates to more than to 15,000 people – almost double the number we're required to employ by law.

LGBTQIA+ colleagues

As an organization, we are committed to promoting an inclusive, cooperative environment that empowers individuals to achieve their career goals irrespective of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

In 2008, we established our internal RainbowNet network, providing a platform for LGBTQIA+ employees to share their experiences. The network has members cross the globe, and is there to support employees and managers on all matters related to coming out at work

  Let's hear from our employees

"At my workplace we have an employee who identifies as a trans woman. Once I needed to collect videos of employees answering the question "why do you like working at DHL?" and I chose her as one of the people. Her answer was touching, she said that she likes to work at DHL because she feels included and that she never imagined that in logistics, where most of the people are men, she could be so respected."

"The subject of D&I has been pushed very intensely in the company. I fit into the pillar of religious diversity (I practice a religion of African origin) and today I feel very comfortable in front of my co-workers. I feel really welcomed and I know that the company's initiatives in D&I are fundamental for this to happen."

"When I started working in DHL 15 years ago, some colleagues, even managers, could make some remarks about LGBTQ+ colleagues. I am a LBGTQ+ advocate and would have never thought that we would make such a progress and celebrate PRIDE month. It is great! It makes me proud of the company I work for, because it makes me feel that our values (mine and DPDHL's) are aligned."

"Where I work, I am respected as a person, expert, and citizen, regardless of my age, gender, or religion. I am proud to say that I work at DPDHL - a place where respect for diversity and inclusion is really applied in practice. Respect is everywhere: from the top management down to the operations."
